Frequently Asked Questions

How does a magnetic fabric stand differ from a zipped or tensioned one? +
The difference is how the graphic attaches. A magnetic system holds the fabric against the frame with magnets, so panels come off and go back on by hand in seconds, while zipped sleeves and tensioned silicone-edge graphics have to be threaded or pushed into a groove around the whole perimeter. Magnets win on speed and on how easily a single panel can be changed; tensioned systems give a marginally tighter edge. If you change graphics often, the magnetic route saves real time at every build.
Will the graphic sag or shift during the show? +
Not if the frame is built properly, but magnets hold a panel in place rather than clamping it, so start square. Level the feet and check the frame is not racked before any fabric goes on, because a leaning structure pulls the panel away from its magnetic line and creates a visible ripple. Never hang anything from the fabric itself, and re-seat panels each morning — a knock from a passing trolley overnight is the usual cause of a lifted corner.
Can I swap graphics partway through an event? +
Yes, and it is one of the strongest reasons to choose this system. Panels lift off individually, so you can change a message between days of a multi-day show, run different branding for different audiences, or replace a damaged panel without dismantling anything. Number the panels and keep a simple layout plan, because at speed the mistake is not the changeover itself but putting a panel back in the wrong position.
How do I keep panels aligned across a large stand? +
Set the frame out accurately before you dress it. Hall floors are rarely flat, so adjust the feet until the structure is level and the verticals are true, then fit panels working from the centre of each run outwards rather than starting at one end. Starting at a corner lets small errors accumulate, and the last panel ends up noticeably off. On the 6m x 6m models this is the difference between a crisp wall and a wavy one.
Are the magnets a problem around equipment or cards? +
For modern screens, laptops and phones, no. Be sensible with the handful of things magnets still affect: keep panels away from hotel key cards, older magnetic-stripe cards, payment terminals and traditional spinning hard drives, and do not stack panels on top of a card reader at the end of the day. Store panels together and away from loose metal fittings, which can be picked up by the magnets and later scratch the printed face.
How should artwork be prepared for magnetic panels? +
Keep critical content away from the edges. The fabric wraps and sits against a magnetic line at the panel perimeter, so logos or text placed close to the border can be pulled out of view or fall into the join between two panels. If a design runs across several panels, tell us at the artwork stage so the image is registered correctly across the set. We check every file free of charge and can supply a free 2D mockup showing the panel divisions.
How should the panels be stored and transported? +
Roll rather than fold where you can, and keep panels away from anything that will crease them along a magnet line, because a pressed crease over a magnet strip shows on the printed face. Store them flat, dry and clean, since polyester picks up dust and mildew marks that will not wash out. Note which panel goes where inside the case, and the next build at a venue such as ExCeL London starts a good deal faster.
Which size should I choose, and can I change size later? +
Pick the size that matches the floor plot you book most often — the range runs from 3m x 3m to 6m x 6m and includes 4m x 3m, 5m x 3m and 5m x 4m layouts for spaces that are not square. Buying for your largest regular stand and using fewer panels at smaller shows is not always possible, since frames are supplied to suit a given size, so confirm with us before assuming a kit will scale down. Call +44 1628 904 188 or email us your typical floor plans and we will recommend the closest fit.
